Emoji 2.0 (2015)
Emoji 2.0 introduced zero-width joiner sequences, the technique that glues several characters into a single emoji. That made family and couple emojis like ๐จโ๐ฉโ๐ง family: man, woman, girl and ๐ฉโโค๏ธโ๐ฉ couple with heart: woman, woman possible, including same-sex couples and parents. The release also added flags for most countries and regions, such as ๐ง๐ท Brazil, ๐ฎ๐ณ India and ๐จ๐ฆ Canada.
286 new emojis โ 271 base emojis plus 15 skin tone variants.
