What does 🇸🇭 St. Helena, Ascension & Tristan da Cunha Flag mean?
A blue ensign with the Union Jack and St Helena’s shield on the fly: a three-masted sailing ship near a rocky coast, beneath a yellow band with the wirebird, the island’s endemic plover. The emoji stands for the British territory of St Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha, and appears in posts about Napoleon’s exile, Jamestown and remote travel.
Technically, 🇸🇭 is not a single character: it is the pair of regional indicator letters 🇸 🇭, which spell the region code SH. Apps that support flags combine the two letters into a flag; Windows does not draw country flags, so on Windows you see the letters SH instead – the emoji still arrives as a flag on the recipient’s phone.
🇸🇭 St. Helena, Ascension & Tristan da Cunha Flag is an emoji from the Flags category (country flags), added in Emoji 2.0 in 2015.
