What does ๐ณ๐ช Niger Flag mean?
Orange, white and green horizontal stripes with an orange disc in the centre, on a flag slightly closer to square than most. The orange recalls the Sahara, the green the fertile south and the disc the sun. Nigeriens celebrate independence on 3 August, and the flag appears in posts about Agadez, the Niger River and Tuareg culture. Not to be confused with Nigeria.
Technically, ๐ณ๐ช is not a single character: it is the pair of regional indicator letters ๐ณ ๐ช, which spell the region code NE. Apps that support flags combine the two letters into a flag; Windows does not draw country flags, so on Windows you see the letters NE instead โ the emoji still arrives as a flag on the recipientโs phone.
๐ณ๐ช Niger Flag is an emoji from the Flags category (country flags), added in Emoji 2.0 in 2015.
