What does ๐ฑ๐ป Latvia Flag mean?
A dark carmine red flag with a narrow white horizontal stripe across the middle, one of the oldest flag designs in the world, mentioned in a 13th-century chronicle. Latvians celebrate Proclamation Day on 18 November and the midsummer festival Jฤลi in June, and fly the flag for ice hockey and basketball. Visitors pair it with Rigaโs Art Nouveau buildings.
Technically, ๐ฑ๐ป is not a single character: it is the pair of regional indicator letters ๐ฑ ๐ป, which spell the region code LV. Apps that support flags combine the two letters into a flag; Windows does not draw country flags, so on Windows you see the letters LV instead โ the emoji still arrives as a flag on the recipientโs phone.
๐ฑ๐ป Latvia Flag is an emoji from the Flags category (country flags), added in Emoji 2.0 in 2015.
