What does ๐ฆ๐ถ Antarctica Flag mean?
Antarctica has no official flag, as no single country owns it. The most widely recognised unofficial design shows a white outline of the continent on a blue field. It is a favourite for expedition cruises, research station life, penguin posts and the bragging rights of reaching the seventh continent, and people also use it jokingly for freezing weather or an ice-cold office.
Technically, ๐ฆ๐ถ is not a single character: it is the pair of regional indicator letters ๐ฆ ๐ถ, which spell the region code AQ. Apps that support flags combine the two letters into a flag; Windows does not draw country flags, so on Windows you see the letters AQ instead โ the emoji still arrives as a flag on the recipientโs phone.
๐ฆ๐ถ Antarctica Flag is an emoji from the Flags category (country flags), added in Emoji 2.0 in 2015.
