What does ๐ฆ๐ฟ Azerbaijan Flag mean?
Three horizontal stripes of blue, red and green, with a white crescent and eight-pointed star in the middle band. The colours are commonly read as Turkic heritage, modernity and Islam. People post it for national celebrations and Novruz in spring, for trips to Bakuโs Flame Towers and walled old city, and for the Formula 1 race on Bakuโs street circuit.
Technically, ๐ฆ๐ฟ is not a single character: it is the pair of regional indicator letters ๐ฆ ๐ฟ, which spell the region code AZ. Apps that support flags combine the two letters into a flag; Windows does not draw country flags, so on Windows you see the letters AZ instead โ the emoji still arrives as a flag on the recipientโs phone.
๐ฆ๐ฟ Azerbaijan Flag is an emoji from the Flags category (country flags), added in Emoji 2.0 in 2015.
