What does 🇫🇮 Finland Flag mean?
A blue Nordic cross on a white field, often said to evoke blue lakes and white snow. Finns post it on Independence Day, 6 December, and for ice hockey wins, and alongside saunas, lakeside cabins and the northern lights of Lapland. Santa Claus Village in Rovaniemi also makes it a December favourite, and it labels Finnish in language apps.
Technically, 🇫🇮 is not a single character: it is the pair of regional indicator letters 🇫 🇮, which spell the region code FI. Apps that support flags combine the two letters into a flag; Windows does not draw country flags, so on Windows you see the letters FI instead – the emoji still arrives as a flag on the recipient’s phone.
🇫🇮 Finland Flag is an emoji from the Flags category (country flags), added in Emoji 2.0 in 2015.
