What does ๐ฉ๐ฟ Algeria Flag mean?
Two vertical halves, green and white, with a red crescent and star at the centre. Green is linked to Islam and the land, white to peace, and red to those who died in the struggle for independence. Algerians share it on Independence Day, 5 July, and for the Fennecs, the national football team, whose fans sing โOne, two, three, viva lโAlgรฉrie!โ
Technically, ๐ฉ๐ฟ is not a single character: it is the pair of regional indicator letters ๐ฉ ๐ฟ, which spell the region code DZ. Apps that support flags combine the two letters into a flag; Windows does not draw country flags, so on Windows you see the letters DZ instead โ the emoji still arrives as a flag on the recipientโs phone.
๐ฉ๐ฟ Algeria Flag is an emoji from the Flags category (country flags), added in Emoji 2.0 in 2015.
