What does ๐ฆ๐จ Ascension Island Flag mean?
A British Blue Ensign, with the Union Jack in the canton and Ascensionโs coat of arms on the fly; the arms feature green turtles and wideawake terns, two of the islandโs best-known animals. Ascension is a remote volcanic island in the South Atlantic and part of the British territory of St Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha. The flag turns up in posts about turtle nesting season, sport fishing, hiking Green Mountain and remote travel.
Technically, ๐ฆ๐จ is not a single character: it is the pair of regional indicator letters ๐ฆ ๐จ, which spell the region code AC. Apps that support flags combine the two letters into a flag; Windows does not draw country flags, so on Windows you see the letters AC instead โ the emoji still arrives as a flag on the recipientโs phone.
๐ฆ๐จ Ascension Island Flag is an emoji from the Flags category (country flags), added in Emoji 2.0 in 2015.
