What does ๐ฒ๐น Malta Flag mean?
Two vertical halves, white and red, with the George Cross, edged in red, in the upper hoist. The cross was awarded to the islands by King George VI in 1942 for their bravery during the Second World War. Maltese people celebrate Independence Day on 21 September, and visitors use the flag for Valletta, Gozo, diving and Mediterranean sunshine.
Technically, ๐ฒ๐น is not a single character: it is the pair of regional indicator letters ๐ฒ ๐น, which spell the region code MT. Apps that support flags combine the two letters into a flag; Windows does not draw country flags, so on Windows you see the letters MT instead โ the emoji still arrives as a flag on the recipientโs phone.
๐ฒ๐น Malta Flag is an emoji from the Flags category (country flags), added in Emoji 2.0 in 2015.
