What does ๐ฒ๐ถ Martinique Flag mean?
As an overseas region of France, Martinique officially uses the French tricolour, while a red, green and black flag is widely flown locally as a symbol of Martinican identity. The emoji appears in posts about Creole culture, Carnival, rhum agricole, Mount Pelรฉe, the beaches of the south and writers such as Aimรฉ Cรฉsaire.
Technically, ๐ฒ๐ถ is not a single character: it is the pair of regional indicator letters ๐ฒ ๐ถ, which spell the region code MQ. Apps that support flags combine the two letters into a flag; Windows does not draw country flags, so on Windows you see the letters MQ instead โ the emoji still arrives as a flag on the recipientโs phone.
๐ฒ๐ถ Martinique Flag is an emoji from the Flags category (country flags), added in Emoji 2.0 in 2015.
