What does 🇲🇸 Montserrat Flag mean?
A blue ensign with the Union Jack and a shield showing a woman in green, Erin, the personification of Ireland, holding a harp and a cross. Montserrat’s Irish heritage earns it the nickname “Emerald Isle of the Caribbean”, and St Patrick’s Day is a public holiday there. The flag also appears in posts about the Soufrière Hills volcano.
Technically, 🇲🇸 is not a single character: it is the pair of regional indicator letters 🇲 🇸, which spell the region code MS. Apps that support flags combine the two letters into a flag; Windows does not draw country flags, so on Windows you see the letters MS instead – the emoji still arrives as a flag on the recipient’s phone.
🇲🇸 Montserrat Flag is an emoji from the Flags category (country flags), added in Emoji 2.0 in 2015.
