What does ๐ฌ๐ฑ Greenland Flag mean?
Two horizontal bands of white and red with a counterchanged disc set towards the hoist, red on top and white below, suggesting the sun sinking over the ice and sea. Called Erfalasorput, โour flagโ, in Greenlandic, it represents an autonomous territory within the Kingdom of Denmark. Greenlanders celebrate National Day on 21 June, and visitors use it for icebergs, sled dogs and northern lights.
Technically, ๐ฌ๐ฑ is not a single character: it is the pair of regional indicator letters ๐ฌ ๐ฑ, which spell the region code GL. Apps that support flags combine the two letters into a flag; Windows does not draw country flags, so on Windows you see the letters GL instead โ the emoji still arrives as a flag on the recipientโs phone.
๐ฌ๐ฑ Greenland Flag is an emoji from the Flags category (country flags), added in Emoji 2.0 in 2015.
