What does ๐ฌ๐ง United Kingdom Flag mean?
The Union Flag, or Union Jack, layers the red cross of St George for England, the white saltire of St Andrew for Scotland and the red saltire of St Patrick for Ireland on a blue field; Wales is not represented in the design. People use it for British pride, royal events, Team GB at the Olympics and trips to London, and as a label for British English.
Technically, ๐ฌ๐ง is not a single character: it is the pair of regional indicator letters ๐ฌ ๐ง, which spell the region code GB. Apps that support flags combine the two letters into a flag; Windows does not draw country flags, so on Windows you see the letters GB instead โ the emoji still arrives as a flag on the recipientโs phone.
๐ฌ๐ง United Kingdom Flag is an emoji from the Flags category (country flags), added in Emoji 0.6 in 2010. People use it in messages about uk and britain.
