🇷🇺Russia Flag Emoji

What does 🇷🇺 Russia Flag mean?

Three horizontal stripes of white, blue and red. The emoji is used for Russia Day on 12 June, national sports teams, and posts about Moscow, St Petersburg, the Trans-Siberian Railway, ballet and classic literature. It is also a common label for the Russian language in learning apps and multilingual bios.

Technically, 🇷🇺 is not a single character: it is the pair of regional indicator letters 🇷 🇺, which spell the region code RU. Apps that support flags combine the two letters into a flag; Windows does not draw country flags, so on Windows you see the letters RU instead – the emoji still arrives as a flag on the recipient’s phone.

🇷🇺 Russia Flag is an emoji from the Flags category (country flags), added in Emoji 0.6 in 2010.
