What does ๐ฉ๐ช Germany Flag mean?
Black, red and gold horizontal stripes, colours tied to the 19th-century movement for a united, democratic Germany. Germans post it on German Unity Day, 3 October, and when the national football team plays, and it fills Oktoberfest, Christmas market and road-trip posts. It is also a handy label for the German language in learning apps and bios.
Technically, ๐ฉ๐ช is not a single character: it is the pair of regional indicator letters ๐ฉ ๐ช, which spell the region code DE. Apps that support flags combine the two letters into a flag; Windows does not draw country flags, so on Windows you see the letters DE instead โ the emoji still arrives as a flag on the recipientโs phone.
๐ฉ๐ช Germany Flag is an emoji from the Flags category (country flags), added in Emoji 0.6 in 2010.
