What does ๐ Tomato mean?
A ripe red tomato. It is everywhere in cooking chats, from pasta sauce and salsa to salads and backyard gardens, and it fuels the endless โis it a fruit or a vegetable?โ debate (botanically, it is a fruit). The old image of throwing tomatoes at bad performers also gives it a joking meaning of booing something terrible, and movie fans may connect it to online review scores.
๐ Tomato is an emoji from the Food & Drink category (fruits), added in Emoji 0.6 in 2010. People use it in messages about food, fruit and vegetable.
