Building lists without formatting
Social media captions, bios, messages and some form fields strip out formatting, but a pasted • stays exactly where you put it. Start each line with the same bullet for a clean look, or use a filled • for main points and a hollow ◦ for sub-points. Triangle markers like ‣ and ► feel more directional, which suits steps and instructions.
Decorative markers
For a more stylish list, try diamonds such as ◆ and ◇, the four-pointed ❖ or the Japanese reference mark ※, which is often used to flag a note or warning. Half-filled circles like ◐ and ◑ can even show progress or ratings. Keep one style per list so readers can tell what belongs together at a glance.
