What does 🗾 Map of Japan mean?
The outline of Japan’s main islands shown as a single silhouette. It is a quick way to say “Japan” without using the 🇯🇵 flag, so it appears in trip announcements, language-learning chats, anime and food conversations, and messages to friends who live there. It comes from the early Japanese phone emoji sets, which helps explain why Japan is the only country with its own map emoji.
🗾 Map of Japan is an emoji from the Travel & Places category (maps & globes), added in Emoji 0.6 in 2010.
