What does 😢 Crying Face mean?
A single tear on a sad face signals sorrow that is real but contained. It expresses hurt feelings, missing someone, small heartbreaks or sympathy for another person, and it can also show being touched by something moving. Goodbyes and gentle disappointments suit it well. Compared with the wailing 😭, it is a quieter, more restrained kind of sadness.
😢 Crying Face is an emoji from the Smileys & Emotion category (concerned faces), added in Emoji 0.6 in 2010. People use it in messages about awful, cry, feels, miss, sad and tear.
