What does 🏴 Black Flag mean?
A plain black flag on a pole. Its symbolism shifts with context: pirates flew plain black banners long before the skull and crossbones became popular, black is a traditional colour of mourning, and in politics the black flag is associated with anarchism. In motor racing a black flag calls a driver into the pits or out of the race. In chats it often suits gothic aesthetics, metal fans or an all-black mood.
🏴 Black Flag is an emoji from the Flags category (special flags), added in Emoji 1.0 in 2015.
