What does 🎤 Microphone mean?
A handheld microphone. It is used for singing, karaoke, live performances, open mics and speeches. People also use it for “mic drop” moments – a perfect final word – and to hand someone the floor, as in “over to you 🎤”. It feels more about performing than 🎙️, which suits podcasts and recording.
🎤 Microphone is an emoji from the Objects category (music), added in Emoji 0.6 in 2010. People use it in messages about karaoke, mic, music, sing and sound.
